Regular Maintenance

When possible, use a leaf blower to remove small materials from the surface. Rakes can be used to remove heavier objects; however do not use a metal rake it can tear fibers from the base. Use a stiff natural bristle broom to smooth high traffic areas. We recommend the Home Depot Real Grass Synthetic Grass Turf Rake.

A shop-vac can be used for dry spills. Make sure to hold the suction end of the hose off the surface to avoid removing the infill product along with the debris.

Look around edges for weeds. Remove and/ or use pre or post emergent to control growth test small area first to confirm it won’t damage the turf.

If the infill is disturbed after a heavy rain or strong dust storm, let the area dry first and then remove the surface debris and smooth the area with a broom. This will redistribute the surface infill.

According to the Arizona Department of Water Resources, the average home with a lawn consumes up to 70% of their monthly water bill to watering their lawn.  This equates to a huge (up to 70%) savings on your water bill if you switch to synthetic turf.  Plus with lack of water on everyone’s mind living in the southwestern climate you can help to conserve Arizona’s water supply without giving up the beauty and functionality of a backyard lawn.

So far the water authority has paid out more than $167 million in turf rebates for commercial and residential properties. Pet urine or excrement will not discolor the turf and the smell is not retained within the grass. If you don’t wish to wait for a rain shower, you can easily use your garden hose to rinse off the turf to give it that fresh look again. When dealing with the “little or very large present” your dog leaves on the grass, simply treat it like you do normal grass. Pick up the larger pieces and leave the small ones to disintegrate and drain down through the base. Artificial turf backing is made of a combination of permeable woven and non-woven polypropylene fabrics. The fibers are tufted (stitched) into the backing material in rows according to a specific gauge spacing.  Artificial turf products come in a variety of backings: polyurethane, latex, BioCel, and Duraflo. All of Paradise Greens products offer the BioCel backing technology.  This backing replaces over 90% of the petroleum based polymers used in polyurethane secondary backings with bio-based polymers derived from domestically grown soybeans.  BioCel is consistent with Paradise Greens’ objective to continue to offer cutting edge, eco friendly products.

• BioCel is made from a renewable resource.  Every yard of BioCel installed contributes to improved air quality through the reduction of CO2.
• BioCel backing incorporates post-consumer recycled PET plastic from soft drink and water bottles.

Paradise Greens chose to use BioCel technology in their exclusive line of artificial turf products versus Duraflo and other artificial turf backing systems because BioCel resists expansion and contraction of the backing during extreme temperature fluctuations, does not harbor bacteria that can cause odors, and drains at an astounding 42 gallons per hour.  BioCel is a compound developed by using a combination of bio-based polymers and Celceram. Bio-based polymers are manufactured with a portion of the polyoil coming from a soybean plant.  Celceram stabilizes and toughens the polyurethane compound.  BioCel does not impact the performance of the secondary backing, but rather deliver the same level of performance in a more environmentally friendly manner.
